Lake Loop Hike

This hike is really a guided walk more than a hike which is perfect for new campers at Camp. It is slightly more than a half a mile looping along the paths and trails around Lake Vreeland. It goes past a number of historic sites in Camp and gives you a chance to look at the ecology of Lake Vreeland up close.

Millstone Hike

The Millstone Trail winds through 2 miles of the southern portion of historic Camp Glen Gray. It runs along the Millstone Hill, the ridge separating Camp Glen Gray from another former Boy Scout, Camp Tamarack that is also now part of the Ramapo Greenway. Hikers will see a hidden pond, several interesting glacial erratic formations, a rattlesnake cave, a cactus garden, a lookout to the southwest and a collection of abandoned millstones in various stages of carving.

North Brook Hike

This hike is a great first hike for new campers at Camp. It is only slightly more than a mile while showing the hikers a natural area along one of the brooks that feed Lake Vreeland as well as several historic sites in Camp. On the hike you will loop through Camp seeing most of the primary areas of Camp on a comfortable short hike.

Lookouts Hike

This hike takes you to five scenic lookouts in the northern portion of Camp and beyond into nearby areas of the Ramapo Greenway. You will have views to both the east and the west, on a clear day from the Manhattan Skyline to New Jersey’s High Point, even on a hazy day the views are spectacular.

Ten Mile Hike

The hike takes to you to all the corners of historic Camp Glen Gray and takes just a little over 10 miles doing it. It is perfect for a 10 mile hike for the Boy Scout Hiking Merit Badge and any other hiking qualifications that require a 10 mile hike. As you hike the trails you will get to see several spectacular North Jersey lookouts and two other former Boy Scout Camps as well as a number of other historical sights throughout the Ramapo Greenway.
